Fans line up for face time with Oprah
The State Fair of Texas braced for thousands of early visitors Monday as talk show star Oprah Winfrey tapes a segment of her program.
The Chevrolet Main Stage at the end of International Boulevard was being readied overnight for Winfrey to host a 10 a.m. performance by country music singer Martina McBride.
Enthusiastic fans braved a chilly pre-dawn drizzle at the State Fair main gate hoping to be among the 4,000 who get a spot in the VIP area directly in front of the stage.

"Get off your sofa and watch Oprah!" they chanted.
Linda Williams has a State Fair story to share with Winfrey. "I want to tell you about the time I got stuck on the ferris wheel. It was scary! I was way up in the air," she said.
The State Fair gates opened before 7 a.m. to accomodate the crowd. Wrist bands were distributed to the first guests for the best spots.
Winfrey made an unannounced appearance at the fair on Sunday — wearing a newly-purchased cowboy hat and boots — to tape additional segments for her program, causing quite a stir.
"Thank you for coming to Texas," Williams said as she waited to see Winfrey. "We're going to have an awesome time!"
