I-30 will close Wednesday night in Arlington

Nighttime isn’t the right time to be on Interstate 30 in Arlington this week.

The main lanes will be shut down from 8 tonight to 6 a.m. Thursday while workers install beams for the new Collins Street bridge.

Eastbound traffic will detour to the frontage road at the Collins Street exit, and westbound traffic will detour at Ballpark Way.  Advertisement

Less painful nighttime closures are scheduled in the same area from 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, and 8 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday, when traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for installation of bridge deck panels.

The work is part of the $166 million Three Bridges Project. Contractors are on course to reopen the Collins Street overpass by Thanksgiving, said Val Lopez, a spokesman for the Texas Departmentof Transportation.

No major events are scheduled for the next few days at Cowboys Stadium or Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
