Man Dead in Single-Car Crash on Closed RoadOne man is dead after a bizarre crash overnight in Fort Worth. Thomas Adams, 26, of Rhome, slammed into a backhoe on the 1600-block of East Weatherford Street overnight Thursday. To hit the backhoe, Adams had to go around a police barricade, up a sidewalk and finally onto a closed road. Adams was the only person in the truck and there were no other reported injuries.
Woman Found Shot, Killed in ArlingtonThe body of a woman in her 20s was found in Arlington Thursday night. Linda Villanueva-Rodriguez, 22, was found in the parking lot of the Sutter Home Apartments at about 9 p.m., dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Officials said the woman was a resident of the complex and that several gunshots were reported by residents moments before the woman's body was found. Investigators have not yet revealed a motive or made any arrests in the murder.
Sex Offender Strikes Again, Police SayA convicted North Texas sex offender is accused of striking again. Brandon Coppock is charged with having sex with a 16-year-old Garland girl that police believe he met online. Investigators said Coppock has had contact with other underage girls as well. Coppock was convicted in 2007 of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Woman Crashes into Police CruiserAn off-duty police officer is recovering Friday after a driver crashed her BMW into his police cruiser overnight. The officer from the Bardwell Police Department was providing traffic control for a construction crew in Coppell just before midnight when his car was hit from behind in the westbound lanes of Interstate 635 near Freeport Parkway. The driver who struck the officer's car said she didn't notice the stopped vehicles in the roadway. The officer was transported to an area hospital after complaining of neck pain.
Mother, 2 Children Killed in Waco Mobile Home FireA mother and her two children have died after their mobile home in Waco caught on fire. Firefighters who were called to the mobile home Thursday night found it ablaze with the woman and children trapped inside.
