Getting a Man is not a Goal

Webster defines a goal as the place designated as the end.  We live in a time where women are making  great strides in their careers, buying homes, and driving nice cars yet no matter how much money they make or how well they are doing if they don’t have a man they don’t feel complete.  Could it be possible that no matter how much God is blessing you, there is still this sense of I need to have it all and I need to have it all now, including him?  So as women we begin to make getting a man a goal that is to be achieved and conquered.  As women we go to the club, church, stores, and malls, always in search of him waking up daily wondering if today will be the day that he will come into my life.  Today, men don’t have to do anything to get you because by the time you meet him or he meets you, she already has plans for him and it’s only been a week.  I hear women say constantly I don’t have time to date. But, dating is about collecting information to see if this is someone you want to get to know.  Instead, we meet them expecting them to be one immediately. Advertisement

Let’s talk goal setting; how do we as women set goals in obtaining a man?

For some women they will not attend any events or functions unless they know that there’s going to be men there.

For some women they set weekly goals by going in search of a man every weekend whether it is at the club or at the church, all they know is that I am ready now.

For some women they tell themselves that by next year I am going to be married because I am getting older.

For some women they try and force the hand of God through prayer by quoting scriptures, thinking that is going to make him come even faster.

The bible never tells us as women that we are to seek a man and neither do God tell us to make this our goal.  He does tell us as women that we are to seek the Lord while He maybe found. See there isn’t anything wrong with having the desire to be with someone but the problem comes when we become impatient and we try to do it ourselves.  As women we feel like God is moving to slow so we take it upon ourselves to make it happen.  Sometimes as women we are so busy trying to make it happen that we wake up thinking about it, go to bed thinking about it, talking to others about it until we become completely consumed with thoughts of his coming. Many of us will even make every man we meet be the one. We never stop long enough to allow God to bring us into their lives not them into ours.  The man is the one to seek after the woman not the other way around.  Many women will say that men don’t know a good woman when they see it.  The bible says he who finds a wife finds a good thing but God did not say that every woman that a man sees is for him, but we are going to make ourselves be the one for him. 

As women we are so impatient and controlling this is why we have so much heartache and pain in our lives because we are constantly trying to make getting a man our goal.  No one wants and neither desires to wait on the Lord because we want him now.  Someone tried to talk me into going after a man and I simply told them that is not what God would have me to do as woman of God.  It has taken me many years and much prayer to get to this point but I now have peace knowing that God is in control and I don’t have to make a man be a goal.  Ladies, there has to become a distinction between women of the world and women of God. Just know that you complete within yourself!
