Prosecutors Build Case Against Remy Ma; Victim Recuperating

Remy Ma, born Remy Smith, was charged with attempted murder, assault and weapons possession stemming from an incident on July 14.

Prosecutors accuse Remy Ma of shooting her friend Makeda-Barnes Joseph twice in the stomach, after the two argued over $3,000 that was allegedly stolen from Remy Ma earlier in the evening.

According to reports, Remy was not indicted yesterday because a grand jury has not heard her case.

After several high profile shootings in the city, New York prosecutors are reported to be taking their time building a case against the Bronx bred rapper.

"I suspect that the district attorney's getting conflicting views of the events from various witnesses and doesn't want to go before a grand jury until he's sure of what happened," Remy Martin's attorney Ivan Fisher told the New York Daily News.

According to Fisher, "no view of the events that has surfaced publicly is accurate."

Next week, Fisher and representatives will examine and photograph Barnes-Joseph's vehicle, before returning it to her next week.

Barnes-Joseph is currently home recuperating from her gunshot wounds and is unable to work.

Remy Ma is free on $250,000 bail until the next court date, which is slated for November 29.
