When we were children they would tell us to close our eyes and make a wish and we would open our imagination up to the possibilities that wishes do come true. You had been dreaming, praying, and wishing for the woman or the man of your dreams to come and surprise, surprise, surprise, here they are standing as a vision of paradise. She’s fine, he’s sexy, and it was heaven here on earth. God had answered your wish, oh excuse me prayer, so you thought. About a couple of months into the relationship if that long you found out that Mr. Sexy was really Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Fine was really the Bride of Chucky.

For some of us we continued on into the relationship wishing that things would change and get better rather instead it only grew worse. Now the two of you have parted ways but the mark they left on your heart now resides in the corridors of your mind lurking around the corner every chance it gets. The other night I was lying in my bed not really thinking about much when suddenly the pain of what someone did years ago that ended without any notice surfaced and tears began to roll down my face. I turned and said, “God that was years ago why am I still feeling the side effects from that situation and a few things came to mind.
1. I truly loved him, but our relationship ended by surprise we were friends of 20 years?
2. I was keeping their words alive even though they were long gone.
3. I kept replaying in my mind what happened along with the question of, why?
There was a song that said this, ‘your body is here with me, but your mind is on the other side of town.”
I wonder, how many of you have unresolved issues in your hearts and minds? Why are you keeping those bad memories along with the pain from that relationship alive? I believe that the golden question is, ‘Can you move on with your life, without knowing the answer as to why they treated you like that whether it was a friend, a lover, or a family member?” Can we give our why’s to the Lord? Maybe somewhere in our hearts we are still wishing for that dream to come true?
The time has come for us to stop wishing and truly allow Jesus to renew our hearts and minds. The bible says, create in me a clean heart and renew the right spirit within me. The bible says in Matthew 15:11, ‘it is not what goes in a man that defiles a man but what comes out of the man, because what goes in his mouth should be eliminated.’ In other words, to continue to repeat, rehearse, and speak of what happens on defiles you. That situation has been eliminated but when we hold on to the pain, it covers itself up in a corner only to reveal itself at a time in your life when you have moved on, met other people, and now instead of living in the now, loving in the now, we feed off the residue of pain from yesterday. It’s time to blow out the candles and this time instead of wishing, seek the Lord for true healing without the whys, but with the how can I move on from here. Give your desires to the Lord and watch your dreams come true.
